LayerDrone uses XP and RP to track and reward contributions to the network. These points are intended to inform the upcoming LayerDrone token launch.

Pilots use the Spexi app to fly missions for the LayerDrone network.

Pilots autonomously map standardized “Spexigons” using consumer drones.

Pilots upload interoperable data that enhances the world’s digital understanding.

Learn what we’re building with LayerDrone, and how you can use the Spexi app to fly your first mission for the network!
Anyone can earn XP by contributing to the LayerDrone community, but only drone pilots can earn RP by flying missions for the LayerDrone network.
All pilots are responsible for ensuring they follow their local rules and regulations regarding drone pilot certificates, insurance, etc. While most jurisdictions do not require drone pilot licenses for drones under 250g, some do. Pilots should familiarize themselves with local laws before commencing flights in their regions.
The LayerDrone network initially standardizes on the sub-250g class of drone, specifically the DJI Mini 2, Mini 3, Mini 3 PRO and Mini 4 PRO to start. In time, additional drone models may work on the network.
Anyone can earn XP by supporting the community, but only pilots can earn RP by completing flown missions for the network. All contributions to the network are tracked by the LayerDrone foundation. Following the LayerDrone token launch, pilots will earn tokens for their contributions.
Spexigons are hexagonal zones that overlay a map of the earth atop the LayerDrone network. Pilots map Spexigons for the LayerDrone network: each Spexigon contains flight plan information that drones autonomously use to ensure they are flying at the correct height, speed, and location to capture the best imagery possible. Spexigons standardize the capture process and make it the same everywhere on Earth.

USDC is a digital coin with the same value as a US dollar.
Every Spexi account already has a wallet connected — it was created automatically when you signed up, or you connected your MetaMask wallet. You can find your wallet address in your account settings — it starts with "0x…".
LayerDrone and Spexi have updated their support docs with additional guidance for pilots interacting with wallets, an exchange, and tokens for the first time. You can also create a support ticket via the Spexi Support Portal.
Now that the LayerDrone network is live on Base Mainnet, pilot rewards are issued in USDC: a stablecoin issued by Circle, pegged 1:1 to the US Dollar. Rewards appear in the wallet connected to your Spexi account as soon as your mission’s upload is successfully verified by the network.
LayerDrone’s step-by-step guide to cashing out your USDC rewards is here. To cashout USDC rewards, you need a USDC compatible exchange account, like Coinbase, connected to your bank account. Otherwise, there are three steps to pilots cashing out USDC rewards:
1) Send USDC from your Spexi account’s wallet to your account on an exchange that accepts USDC, like Coinbase or Kraken.
2) On the exchange, convert USDC by selling it for fiat currency (USD or CAD).
3) After connecting your bank account, transfer money from your exchange account to your bank.
