In April 2025, the LayerDrone Foundation was spun out of Spexi’s tech stack to steward the spatial imagery network as a public utility. The Foundation’s belief is that, by establishing LayerDrone as an open network protocol rather than a closed platform, we're creating the foundation for massive innovation in spatial AI—similar to how open internet protocols enabled the explosion of web applications. And as an open protocol, LayerDrone needs to effectively reward contributors for the value they’re creating for the network.
Contributors to the LayerDrone network can earn two kinds of points that are tracked by the LayerDrone Foundation:
Reputation Points (RP) are an incentive for pilots to successfully complete drone-based missions for the LayerDrone network (i.e. a reward for contributing data to the network)
Experience Points (XP) are an incentive for contributions to the LayerDrone network that do not require flying missions (i.e. a reward for contributing support to the community).
Get rewards for helping us create Earth's most detailed imaging network!
LayerDrone is launching a new community initiative where pilots can showcase their drone setups, share their expertise, and compete for exclusive rewards while helping build the world's most detailed aerial imagery network.
LayerDrone launches RP-only missions for drone pilots: earn reputation points, test equipment, and practice flights while building the world's most detailed imaging network.
